AVGS & startup coaching

AVGS startup coaching is coaching for people who want to become self-employed and are unemployed, registered as job seekers or at risk of unemployment. It is paid for with the activation and placement voucher (AVGS) under Section 45 SGB III. The employment agency or job centre issues the voucher after a personal consultation. It states the goal of the measure, its maximum duration, how long the voucher is valid and the region where you can use it. The AVGS is a discretionary benefit; there is no legal entitlement. Once the voucher is approved in writing, the responsible office pays for the measure (source: Federal Employment Agency, in German, retrieved 5 October 2026).
