How we write our guides

Our guides are meant to help you build your own company. Here we explain who writes them, how they are made, how we keep them up to date and where their limits are.

Who writes our guides

Every guide carries the name of a person on our team. We write about the topics we work with ourselves:

  • Georg Binienda-Meuser, Founder & CEO: AVGS startup coaching, the path to founding and the business plan
  • Stig Dreyer, COO: Taxes, legal form, administration and the numbers in the business plan
  • Dr. Matthieu Voss, Program Director, NXT LEVEL ACCELERATOR: Public support programmes and the Berlin startup scene

On each person’s profile you find their professional background and all the guides they are responsible for.

Why we write them

If you want to become self-employed, you face many questions at the start: Which legal form fits? Which grant or support could apply? What belongs in the business plan? We know these questions, and the uncertainty behind them, from our daily work with founders. With our guides we want to give you clear answers, so you can make well-prepared decisions even if you never talk to us.

How a guide is made

  1. Choose a topic. We write about questions founders really have, in conversations with us and when they search online.
  2. Research and draft. We use AI tools for research, structure and a first draft.
  3. Check the content. The author reads every draft, corrects it and adds their own expertise. No guide is published without this approval.
  4. Check language and claims. We make sure the language is easy to follow and that we promise nothing no one can promise. The responsible bodies decide on grants and support, and we say so.
  5. Publish with a date. Every guide shows when it was published and how current its information is.

How we use AI

AI helps us research faster and structure texts. The expertise, and the judgement about what is correct and what helps you, come from us. The named person stands behind every guide with their name. That is why we point out on every page of our website that content is created with AI support.

English versions

We write our guides in German. The English versions are translations of the German originals, made with the help of AI tools. If the two ever differ, the German version applies.

Sources and accuracy

We rely on legal texts and on information from the responsible bodies, such as the Federal Employment Agency, BAFA or the federal states’ development banks. Where it matters, we name the legal basis, for the AVGS for example § 45 SGB III.

Rules and support programmes change. That is why every guide states how current its information is. When we have checked a guide again, we show the date of that review. Our aim is to check every guide at least every six months.

What our guides can’t do

  • They are not a substitute for legal or tax advice. For your individual case, a tax adviser, a lawyer or the responsible body is the right contact.
  • All information is provided without guarantee.
  • Only the responsible bodies decide on grants and vouchers. There is no legal entitlement to the AVGS.

Our guides and what we offer

nxt milestone is a company: we support founders with startup coaching and consulting. In our guides we point to offers that fit, for example a free intro call. But the guides are meant to help you even if you never book anything with us.

Found a mistake?

If you notice a mistake in a guide or something is no longer correct, write to us at info@nxtmilestone.com. We check every note and correct the guide if necessary. You can tell a correction to the content by its new “as of” date.
